Arthur Suydam is an award winning comic creator best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Marvel Zombies, Deadpool, Batman and more. Awards include, The Spike Scream Award, Spectrum Gold Award, San Sebastian Lifetime Achievement Award , U.V.O.M.L Achievement Award and more. Listed in the Top 100 Greatest Comic Artists of All Time, Suydam and contemporary Richard Corben are credited with first introducing fully-painted sequential work to comics in the 1970s and 80s. The Suydam art legacy began in the 1600s when the family fought in the Indian Wars on the Hudson establishing a Dutch trading post , which later became New Amsterdam and eventually New York. At the outset of the Civil War, great-uncles, James and Henry Suydam , Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, Church , Sanford Gifford , John Kensett, the Hudson River Painters , won American artists world recognition for the first time. Their artworks hang in the White House, Museum of New York, National Academy Museum and museums across the globe. Suydam lives and works in the east village in New York and is a member of The Society of Illustrators.[1]
